Tamaulipas leads in car sales

Although the region ranked fifth nationwide, Tamaulipas led the increase in light vehicle sales in the north of the country during the first half of the year, according to the Mexican Association of Automobile Distributors (AMDA).

The increase in our state was 15.3 percent, the highest in the region that includes the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Durango, a segmentation that the business organization of our country makes to integrate the northern region.

The other regions are the Peninsular Gulf, South, Center, West, Metropolitan and Northwest; According to the Domestic Light Automotive Market Report, the north registered the fifth highest increase in sales from January to June of this year, compared to 2023.

Likewise, Tamaulipas led with the aforementioned 15.3 percent increase in sales, which is complemented in the region as follows: Durango was in second place, with 14.4, followed by Coahuila, with 13.6, and Nuevo León, with 7.8, while Chihuahua registered a decline of minus 5.1 percent.

The region with the highest increase in sales was the Peninsular Gulf, with 26.9 percent; followed by the South, with 24.8, and in third place was the Center, with 11.4; fourth place went to the West, with an annual increase of 8.5, and the North reported 8.2, the Metropolitan 8.0 and the Northwest just 1.8 percent.

It is worth mentioning that 701,517 light vehicles were sold nationwide in the first half of this year, while in 2023 the figure was 626,003, which meant a national increase of 12.1 percent in this type of automotive units.
