The Tamaulipas Congress is asking three federal agencies to replicate the safe station model implemented in the state to ensure that freight and passenger transportation can travel safely throughout the country.
Gerardo Peña Flores, a local lawmaker and president of the Political Coordination Board of the National Action Party (PAN), said that lawmakers approved the resolution he proposed calling on the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation, and the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit to implement this model, which was developed in Tamaulipas.
Tamaulipas currently has 29 safe stations operating with 24-hour surveillance cameras, as well as public restrooms and rest areas.
Recently, four safe stations were inaugurated in Camargo, Miguel Alemán, Reynosa, and Valadeces.
Through these facilities, authorities patrol the stretches of road between one station and another, thereby helping to restore territorial control and uphold law and order, the lawmaker said.
