The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR) announced the destruction of 25 homemade armored vehicles, known as “Monsters,” in Tamaulipas.
The vehicles allegedly belonged to members of the criminal group “Facción Z,” linked to the Northeast Cartel, while some of the vehicles were possibly seized from the Gulf Cartel.
The FGR stated, without specifying when the vehicles were seized, that they were allegedly used by members of these criminal groups and were connected to various investigations.
In a statement, the agency said the destruction was carried out as part of the “Destination of Crime-Related Property and Objects” program.
“The destroyed units were seized in collaboration with authorities from all three levels of government, in various operations coordinated by the Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico,” the statement said.
Representatives of federal and local authorities, the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC), and personnel from the FGR Internal Control Body (OIC) participated in the event. They verified that the procedure was carried out in accordance with the applicable regulations.
