Costco in Tampico: store is considering opening in an area near the airport; this is what we know

The Costco chain of stores is considering setting up in the municipality of Tampico. It was reported that the studies carried out by the chain of stores were positive, so it is feasible to set up shop.

“The market studies were done and yes, the possibility of setting up in Tampico was positive,” reported Carlos de la Rosa Duran, Secretary of Urban Development in the port.

He reported that there were three options for land to set up in the city, but one was discarded, so there are two left near the extension of Hidalgo Avenue, by the Tampico International Airport.

He indicated that the difficulty in finding land is that the company is looking for double the number of parking spaces requested by the construction permit, that is, “if 200 are required, the chain is looking for 400 parking spaces.”

Today, the land options for this chain of stores, one of the most popular, are on the extension of Hidalgo Avenue, near Sams Club, where there is a large plot of land available.

Near Hidalgo Avenue, next to car dealerships adjacent to the Posada de Tampico, there is an extension of land that is free.

There are other spaces on Universidad Avenue, such as the one near the Faja de Oro, which is on the corner and is large, but in the end, the businessmen will have the last word.

“This is good news for Tampico, because a company of these large firms brings economic benefits, and a few years ago it was said that it would come but it was completely false, now they are interested in doing studies and they have already visited three feasible places,” said de la Rosa Durán.

Tampico has already sparked the interest of local and national entrepreneurs and those responsible for franchises. A clear example is that of Tim Hortons, which is expected to open three branches in southern Tamaulipas.

One will be installed in Ciudad Madero and two others in Tampico, exactly on Hidalgo Avenue, near a hotel in the Golden Zone. The second branch in the port will be on Ejército Mexicano Avenue.
