Around 100 migrants tried to cross into the US by force, for which authorities closed the Matamoros-Brownsville bridge.

Authorities from Mexico and the United States closed the Matamoros-Brownsville international bridge before a wave of migrants tried to cross by force.

On Wednesday night around one hundred migrants gathered in the vicinity of the well-known Puente Nuevo and tried to enter the United States illegally.

Personnel from the National Institute of Migration (INM) placed a barricade to prevent passage, but the foreigners knocked it down and reached the US side, where the US Customs and Border Protection Office (CBP) denied them passage.

Elements of the State Guard, National Guard, Attorney General’s Office and the Border Patrol implemented a security operation to prevent the passage of migrants, who left after 2:00 a.m. this Thursday.

As a preventive measure, the Viejo and Los Tomates bridges were also closed.
