K-9 units detect over 300 undocumented individuals

NUEVO LAREDO, TAMAULIPAS.- Border Patrol K9s stopped three separate smuggling attempts over the Easter weekend.

Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents with service K9s were able to halt three human smuggling attempts at the Interstate Highway 35 checkpoint north of Laredo. All three cases involved tractor-trailers, which resulted in more than 300 undocumented individuals being taken into custody.

In all three incidents, the K9 alerted agents to the undocumented migrants hidden inside the trailers.

The undocumented migrants were from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Ecuador. All of them, including the drivers, were medically screened and provided with personal protective equipment. They were taken into custody to be processed accordingly.

The three cases were turned over to HSI for further investigation.
