Nuevo Laredo will host an international grill judge certification program endorsed by the Steak Cookoff Association (SCA) on November 20 and 21, 2026.
The activity will be organized by the Mexican Federation of Grillers and Barbecue Cooks of Nuevo Laredo (FMPNL), whose president, Carlos F. Acosta, stated that the objective is to professionalize and strengthen the barbecue culture in the region.
In addition to the certification, the event will feature a smoking and grilling competition, where participants will put their knowledge and skills to the test through various meat preparation techniques.
The certification will be provided by the SCA, an international organization responsible for regulating grilling competitions. This will allow Nuevo Laredo to train judges according to international standards.
The event seeks to position the city within the specialized gastronomic competition circuit while strengthening the training of local judges and grillers.
