The National Council of the Association of Mexican Women Livestock Producers (MUGAM) Requests That MUGAM Tamaulipas Change Its Name, Slogan, and Logo
The National Council of the Association of Mexican Women Livestock Producers (MUGAM) requested that the organization known as MUGAM Tamaulipas change its name, slogan, and logo, stating that it is currently not part of the national membership and that these elements are protected by intellectual property registration.
The request was made through official letter MUGAM-NAL/121/2026, addressed to Alicia González Muñoz, president of the organization in Tamaulipas. In the document, MUGAM National explains that the Tamaulipas organization was initially established by aligning its corporate purpose and bylaws with those of the national organization, with the expectation that it would subsequently complete its membership process.
According to the letter, a temporary authorization was granted during its establishment to use the MUGAM name, slogan, and logo while the corresponding requirements for formal incorporation were being fulfilled. However, the National Council maintains that this process “has never been completed,” and therefore considers it necessary to regularize the situation.
The national organization stated that its bylaws provide for the incorporation of associations that align their corporate purpose, values, and structure, as well as comply with regulations concerning conduct based on “respect, sisterhood, and collaboration with public and industry stakeholders.”
In the letter, the National Council states that the association headed by González Muñoz “does not currently belong to the membership of MUGAM National nor does it belong to the membership of the National Livestock Confederation,” and therefore requests that it stop using the names and slogans associated with the national organization.
Likewise, MUGAM National proposes convening an Ordinary or Extraordinary Assembly to determine the change of name, slogan, and logo because, according to the document, these elements are the intellectual property of MUGAM Asociación de Mujeres Mexicanas Ganaderas, A.C., registered with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI).
The National Council emphasizes that the Tamaulipas association “does not have the legal capacity to use the names MUGAM Tamaulipas, Mujeres Ganaderas de Tamaulipas, Mugam Va,” and therefore recommends making the corresponding changes to avoid legal consequences.
Nevertheless, the document establishes that once the organization changes its name, it may continue with its membership application process to the National Association, using whatever name its own council determines.
Finally, MUGAM National requested that the specified names and slogans no longer be used in public or private representations, as well as in digital media, written materials, and social networks, and asked the Tamaulipas organization to immediately submit a letter of commitment stating its willingness to change its name.
The letter is signed by Naneth Molina Lizárraga, national president; Violeta Romero Celestino, national secretary; María de los Ángeles Rincón, national treasurer; and María Alejandra Gutiérrez Yamil, member of the Honor and Justice Commission.
