The fourth stage of the journey of the relic of Saint Jude Thaddeus in the country will take place from March 15 to 20 in Tamaulipas.
This important event will bring together numerous devotees and is shaping up to be one of the most significant religious events of the year, starting in the state capital and ending in Matamoros.
Saint Jude Thaddeus: symbol of protection, work and security
The Bishop of the Diocese of Tampico, José Armando Álvarez Cano, reported that, for the first time, the diocese will have a religious act of great importance in which it is planned that the relic will travel through several municipalities of the state, allowing citizens to make their requests and prayers to the patron saint.
“There is great devotion on the part of Catholics. Saint Jude Thaddeus represents an event that revives and strengthens the faith of our people. We all know the great devotion that exists in these times, which reflects the need for protection, work and security, and that is manifested in the feeling of devotion,” he indicated.
“The objective is to travel around our country so that people can be in direct contact with the relic,” the bishop specified.
For his part, Father Ángel Santiago Vargas Uribe, in charge of coordinating the relic in the state, explained that part of the tour will begin in Nuevo Encino, in the municipality of Ciudad Victoria; later, it will continue in Loma Alta, in Ciudad Mante; and will pass through the Manuel Station, to conclude in the southern area.
“We seek to reach the greatest possible number of faithful devotees, starting with the border of the diocese in Tamaulipas, so that citizens have the opportunity to approach the relic and touch it, making the request corresponding to their needs,” said the priest.

Are you Catholic and want to participate as a volunteer or guard?
Father Jesús Manuel Pérez Torres indicated that committed volunteers will be needed to guard the relic, which will remain in the southern area of Tamaulipas under 24-hour surveillance.
We are looking for guards in five-hour shifts, and an average of 25 people is required. “We are only asking that they be faithful Catholics who wish to support us wholeheartedly in the organization of this great event. Those interested can call (833) 531 00 03,” he explained.
The relic of St. Jude, which will be in Tampico, Tamaulipas, is a fragment of bone from the arm of St. Jude Thaddeus, found in 1830 during the restoration of the Altar of St. Joseph in St. Peter’s Basilica.
It is believed that the Pope of that time donated this reliquary, made of wood and carved in the shape of an arm, to Prince Orsini when the basilica was built.
