Man arrested in Mexico in connection to Federal Heights woman’s death

A man accused of killing a 20-year-old woman in Federal Heights, Colorado on Dec. 30, 2023, was arrested in Mexico on a charge of first-degree murder, according to the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Adrian Carracedo-Vega, 35, will be extradited to Colorado “soon,” according to the DA’s Office.

Carracedo-Vega is a suspect in a stabbing that took place in December outside of the Tuscan Heights Apartments, located at 1700 W. 85th Ave. The victim was identified as Sachely Diaz, 20. Police said at the time they believed Carracedo-Vega knew Diaz.

Diaz died at a hospital after the stabbing. As already mentioned, police believe she and Carracedo-Vega knew each other.

Police said in December that Carracedo-Vega may have been heading to Texas or crossed the border into Mexico.

Carracedo-Vega was apprehended thanks to the FBI Safe Streets Task Force. According to the DA’s office, he will be extradited to Colorado shortly.
