GUSTAVO DÍAZ ORDAZ, TAMAULIPAS — In a major effort to bolster security along key trade and travel routes, the government of Tamaulipas has officially inaugurated the new Valadeces Safe Station (Estación Segura) in the municipality of Gustavo Díaz Ordaz.
The opening marks a key milestone in a broader security initiative along the strategic La Ribereña highway, backed by a 223 million Mexican peso investment. Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya presented the facility during a regional working tour, emphasizing that the project aims to maintain a continuous, highly visible law enforcement presence across the northern border region.
The Valadeces site is one of four newly constructed stations strategically positioned every 25 kilometers along La Ribereña. The current network comprises posts in Reynosa Norte, Miguel Alemán, Camargo, and Valadeces. Governor Villarreal noted that these four facilities represent the first phase of an expansive plan slated to bring 15 Safe Stations to the border corridor.
Each 536-square-meter station is built to serve both daily travelers and law enforcement teams. The facilities feature public service areas to assist stranded or distressed motorists, administrative offices, secure dormitories for officers, and dedicated physical conditioning spaces.
Governor Villarreal explained that the project is executed in close coordination with federal authorities as part of an overarching regional safety strategy. Alongside building physical posts, the initiative funds high-tech tactical gear and expands the operational reach of the State Guard (Guardia Estatal).
By establishing permanent surveillance and rapid-response hubs along La Ribereña, state officials aim to protect commuters, deter criminal activity, and build greater confidence for cargo transporters relying on this vital commercial artery.
