Besides Tampico, what other cities in Mexico have a Ferris wheel?

Tampico already has its wheel of fortune, including the offer of these attractions in Mexico and the world. So if you are one of those who love adventure and heights, we tell you in which other cities you can enjoy a very similar mechanical game.

It is worth mentioning that the one in our port is considered the third highest in Mexico, with its 50 meters high and 46 meters in diameter, in which five million dollars were invested by Grupo Premier, a private company dedicated to the tourism sector.

In its 32 gondolas, part of the history, legends, food, fauna and flora that the southern region of Tamaulipas offers is captured. In which the number 13 was not included only as a mere prevention as it is considered bad luck.

And although the construction process was delayed due to causes such as the pandemic and delays in assembly, the structure is already working.

1) Sky Wheel in Cancun

Another of the structures of this type that Grupo Premier has in operation is the Sky Wheel in Cancun, from where you can see the beautiful Caribbean Sea and the Nichupté lagoon.

It is located in La Isla Entertainment Village, it is a panoramic wheel 70 meters high, being the third highest in Latin America; manufactured by the Dutch company Dutch Wheels.

It has 35 gondolas, with capacity for up to seven people, air conditioning and a VIP gondola with a glass floor for five people.

It is included among the attractions of La Isla, in which an entrance fee of 598 pesos is paid, including Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, Wax Museum Cancun, Ripley’s Marvelous Mirror Maze, Tequila Museum, Chocolate factory and Kids Paradise.

2) The Star of Puebla

One of the most emblematic wheels in the country is the so-called Estrella de Puebla, located in the Angelópolis area.

It had a public investment of 400 million pesos, including the renovation of the surrounding area to make it an international attraction.

It was inaugurated during the government of Rafael Moreno Valle in 2013 and since 2021 it was taken out of operation during the administration of Miguel Barbosa.

Today its fate is also uncertain, as the budget for its maintenance of 100 million pesos disappears from the 2023 Expenditure Law.

In February 2023, the intention to relight it was established, with the support of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), which has not happened.

The current governor of Puebla, Sergio Salomón Céspedes Peregrina, did not rule out the possibility of starting it up again.

3) CDMX will release its wheel of fortune this year

For the month of August of this year, it is planned to launch a new Ferris wheel, this one in Mexico City.

It will measure 85 meters high and will have 42 closed cabins, which will be equipped with air conditioning, heating and even bluetooth from where CDMX can be seen.

It will be located in Parque Aztlán in the country’s capital and will replace the Chapultepec Fair, since it will include more than 20 attractions.

Internationally famous Ferris wheels

Around the planet there are other structures of this type that are emblematic, either because of their history or their size.

These Ferris wheels are located in:

     Las Vegas

     Hong Kong

     London

     Singapore

     And in Sao Paulo

The latter is considered the highest in Latin America, Mexico counting with its own attractions, including Tampico from where you can appreciate the beauty of this jaibo port.
