The Secretary of National Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval announced the deployment of a special operation of 710 elements with the support of the National Guard and Army Special Forces to reinforce security in Tamaulipas.

During the morning conference this Tuesday, López Obrador expressed that the versions of instability in recent days in Tamaulipas and the indications that violence has returned to the state have drawn his attention, but he considered that everything is about  “politics” against the government of Américo Villarreal.

“It was more complicated in Guerrero,” he said and questioned that in that case there was not as much dissemination as in Tamaulipas.

For his part, General Luis Cresencio Sandoval announced that security will be reinforced in the municipalities of Matamoros, San Fernando, Cruillas, Burgos, Méndez and Soto la Marina.

The operation, he said, consists of 550 members of the Mexican Army plus 60 from the National Guard and 100 from the Army’s Special Forces Group, in addition to two helicopter gunships.
