However, preliminary autopsy results indicated that the cause of death was drowning, with water found in her lungs.

The mother publicly accused the school of torturing and physically abusing her daughter.

Religious ceremony and peace march to demand justice for Dafne
Amidst grief and demands for justice, Alejandra Quintos, Dafne’s mother, attended a mass at the El Mante Cathedral on Wednesday, July 22, in memory of her daughter, the teenager who died following the events at a military academy in Ciudad Madero.
The case remains under investigation by the Tamaulipas Attorney General’s Office (FGJ).
Accompanied by family, friends, and citizens who have shown solidarity with the family, the mother entered the church carrying a photograph of Dafne and several banners with her image.
During the religious ceremony, prayers were offered for the young woman’s eternal rest, and authorities were asked to fully clarify what happened.
Dafne’s death has generated profound shock in Tamaulipas and in various regions of the country, where citizens have expressed their outrage and demanded a transparent investigation and, if any wrongdoing is found, that those responsible be brought to justice.
Following the mass, a peaceful march took place, starting from the Benito Juárez roundabout and ending at the main square of El Mante.
The participants walked through the main streets of the municipality carrying banners, photographs, and messages demanding justice for Dafne.
Among the main demands of those present were that the investigations proceed swiftly and that the authorities report on the results obtained so far.
