An attempt to execute a court-ordered seizure of the “Winner Casino” facilities resulted in a confrontation between workers and members of the Tamaulipas State Guard on Wednesday, after approximately 300 employees blocked access to prevent the execution of an order issued by a federal judge.
The action was ordered by the Third District Court based in Pachuca, Hidalgo, within the framework of indirect amparo lawsuit 1550/2026, which mandated the seizure of assets and equipment belonging to the company Winner Casino S. de R.L. de C.V., as part of a commercial lawsuit filed by a private individual.
The order authorized the use of force and, if necessary, the forced entry of access points.
The operation began around 9:00 a.m. in Ciudad Victoria and was supported by the State Guard.
The casino features slot machines and other games of chance and is located north of Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas.
However, the employees prevented the authorities from entering, and during several attempts to advance, there were reports of aggression against the police, including blows, stones, sticks, traffic cones, and fire extinguisher spray.
In one of the incidents, a welder attempting to remove part of the perimeter structure was forced to stop when protesters extinguished his equipment with water.
The workers stated that their reaction stemmed from the company’s outstanding wages of up to three pay periods for most of the staff and up to three months for management employees.
Although personnel from the Labor Secretariat arrived to advise them on filing labor lawsuits, they decided to remain at the site to prevent the seizure.
Given the tension and the risk of further injuries, the state court clerk, Juan Antonio Verdín Heredia, temporarily suspended the proceedings around 2:20 p.m., deeming it unsafe to continue.
