Tampico has caught the attention of Jorge Garralda’s program “To Whom It May Concern,” bringing to national attention a problem that seriously affects our community: the deterioration of essential public services. Unfortunately, the image projected of our city today is not one of its tourist attractions, but rather of the lack of attention to the basic needs of its residents.
The situation faced by the residents of the Solidaridad, Voluntad y Trabajo neighborhood is a clear reflection of the neglect plaguing various sectors. For more than a year and a half, families have been seeking a solution to the sewage overflow on Francia Street, a situation that, far from being resolved, has escalated into a serious public health problem.
Despite constant reports and the intermittent presence of technical personnel in the area, the lack of a definitive solution has generated growing frustration among residents. The persistence of this problem demonstrates a notable lack of follow-up and responsiveness on the part of COMAPA in managing the water infrastructure.
THE CITIZENS’ VOICE IN THE FACE OF INDIFFERENCE
The residents’ decision to present their case on Jorge Garralda’s program underscores the exhaustion of local communication channels. For the citizens, the presence of sewage in the streets is not just an infrastructure issue; it is a matter of health and human dignity that can no longer be postponed under administrative justifications.
“We have constantly sought solutions, but we feel that the actions taken so far are not enough to resolve the root of the problem,” the residents stated, whose main demand is that the authorities assume their responsibility with greater seriousness and efficiency.
AN URGENT CALL TO ACTION: IT’S TIME FOR RESULTS!
Given this situation that has transcended local borders, the call is direct to those who hold the responsibility to change this scenario. We make a strong appeal to the Mayor, Mónica Villarreal, the council members of Tampico, and the state representatives: the citizens can wait no longer.
Speeches and appearances at public events are not enough; true action is measured by the ability to solve the problems that affect the daily lives of Tampico families.
The population demands that bureaucracy be set aside and that coordinated efforts be made to guarantee dignified services. Tampico needs leaders who listen, who act, and, above all, who fulfill their obligation to provide health and well-being. The time for promises is over; it is time to deliver real solutions!
