Tampico restaurants are placed in the guide of the best in the country

Recognition. The 2026 edition of the Mexico Gastronómico special includes El Porvenir and Los Curricanes, integrated into a list of the 250 most attractive places to eat throughout the country

The new edition of the Mexico Gastronomic Guide has two Tamaulipas restaurants considered among the 250 best in the country. Located in Tampico, one of the most important tourist sites in the state, specialists in the sector included them in this magazine in recognition of their contribution to the national industry.

After the event held this week in Puebla, El Porvenir and Los Curricanes are once again on the list along with renowned franchises from Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, the Riviera Maya, Oaxaca, Yucatán, and the host state of the event organized by Culinaria Mexicana, giving value to both the variety of dishes, the quality of the food and the service.

Both businesses whose menu is based on fish and seafood, with their own creations recognized by the judges and visitors, were part of the aforementioned event that brought together the best of gastronomy and companions, bringing together about 4 thousand people in the ceremony that took place at the Metropolitan Auditorium of the capital of Puebla.

Ángel García from El Porvenir and Ricardo de Gorordo from Los Curricanes, both chefs and owners, participated in the event. They were named along with the other owners and entrepreneurs who make up the guide.

Since 2019, this exercise has been carried out, and the printed document has been purchased in the main bookstores. These restaurants gained their prestige at the regional and state level for the offer of food with seafood products with a characteristic touch, visited by politicians, celebrities, and foreign businessmen.

In 2022, they were integrated into the guide for the first time, in addition to adding a new recognition and giving presence to the state. Culinaria Mexicana took the opportunity to present special awards in different categories, the most important being the boss and the restaurant of the year.

The choice comes through a group of judges and industry critics who annually visit each restaurant and evaluate technical aspects of the food in addition to additional services such as desserts, drinks, waiter service, cleanliness, and even research.

Attract tourists
The celebration of the FIFA World Cup in Mexico is on the radar of entrepreneurs in the commercial sector of Tampico to attract visitors and increase their sales.

They will be organized to promote the destination of the southern area of Tamaulipas to the international market that arrives in Monterrey, as well as Mexico City, two of the venues chosen for the competition. The National Chamber of Commerce (Canaco) is preparing the strategy within the framework of the sports tournament that will start in June.
