Some transport users who take the routes that go to areas such as El Campanario, Reservas Territoriales, Voluntad y Trabajo, to name a few, have had to wait up to three hours due to the lack of at least 40 drivers to operate the different routes.

“We no longer have support units like we had months ago and this is due to the lack of operators because there are units to work, more or less there are around 40, 45 units, among all the transporters; however, we are struggling with the workforce,” said Martínez Arcega.

He assured that in the facilities of each dealer there are trucks ready to be used, but they do not have operators to provide the service, the main reason is that there is no competition in salaries, “the operator has 16-hour shifts with a salary of less than 5 thousand pesos a week.”

He made the comparison with the salary of a maquila worker, who with benefits earns between 3,500 or 4,000 pesos for working eight hours a day with one day off, so many opt for this option.

The number of users has decreased and they look for other transportation alternatives, since they waste a lot of time waiting for their bus.

Among the main options, they request digital platforms, taxis and in some cases they choose to get a car. He said that 2025 started with 65 units operating in the city and that of the 39 existing routes only 23 operate, he commented that the general secretary has given information about a possible new study to increase the rate again in the state because, “the income has not been comparable with the expenses of the concessionaires.”

He assured that an important project is coming for the city in terms of transportation, which would come to modernize and provide a better service for users.

He said that the municipal public transport commission will soon be established, which is where the agreement would come from.
