According to the regulations of the entity, it is mandatory for taxpayers to change their plates every 3 years, in addition to the sticker and circulation card, so in 2025 all Tamaulipas residents will have to change their vehicle registration.
What is the cost of vehicle plates?
According to the Tamaulipas Finance Secretariat, the cost of the procedure for cars and motorcycles is 2 thousand 497 pesos, but if the driver has a valid license and does not have debts, the cost is reduced to 1 thousand 749 pesos.
This price will be even lower if you have the INSEN credential, retired or pensioned, leaving the procedure at 1 thousand 249 pesos.
Since December, dozens of people interested in renewing their registration have gone to the tax office in Ciudad Madero, where staff had to post advertisements on the façade of the place to announce that the process will be carried out starting January 6. Carlos Martín García Rodríguez, head of the state agency in the municipality, foresees a busy day, so a mechanism for handing out tickets with a folio number will be implemented to ensure that taxpayers have a guaranteed place.
“We are going to give out numbers to more or less keep track and tell people that at a certain time, we are not going to continue but that they have their place guaranteed for the next day. We will hand out up to 160 numbers a day, we are going to do it personally, so people should be careful. If someone gets in, they must report it, there cannot be any sale of numbers, we are going to keep them under close surveillance, the tickets will have a folio, signature and stamp,” he said.
