With a registration time of 00:45, the National Seismological Service (SSN) recorded this Sunday, December 29, the third earthquake of the month in our state.
Today’s earthquake had its epicenter 45 kilometers west of Ciudad Mante and was the largest on the Richter scale so far this month, measuring 3.6 degrees.
Likewise, the service provided by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) reports that this earthquake was located five kilometers deep.
In addition, the location map of the earthquake shows that it was a few meters from the Ocampo-El Naranjo highway, very close to the municipal seat where the El Cielo biosphere reserve is located.
It should be remembered that the SSN shows the closest city as a reference for the location of the epicenter of every earthquake, in this case Ciudad Mante, Tamaulipas, although it occurred in the municipality of Ocampo.
Records from this month indicate that the first earthquake was on December 3, 48 kilometers northeast of González, measuring 3.3 degrees, with a depth of 8.5 km.
The second was 67 km northwest of Ciudad Mante, on December 7, measuring 3.1 degrees and with a depth of five kilometers, according to information from the SSN.
