The local Congress unanimously elected Professor Jesús Govea Orozco as the anti-corruption czar in Tamaulipas.

During the ordinary public session that took place on Wednesday night, the vote was made by ballot and managed to count 32 votes in favor with zero against.

The appointment was made by a list of three candidates composed of Pedro Efraín González Aranda and Miranda Zavala Rodríguez.

The three passed the confidence test applied by C3; although it was already expected that Govea Orozco would be elected.

The appointment as head of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Corruption was already expected since in the last legislature he had tried to occupy the position.

The lawyer has a long career in which he has already been an Agent of the Public Ministry, both investigator and Conciliator, assigned to different positions in the state.

He has been director and deputy director of Preliminary Investigations of the then Attorney General’s Office of Tamaulipas.

He was also director for the implementation of the Penal Reform and litigated privately.

Govea Orozco replaces Raul Ramírez Castañeda, who resigned a couple of weeks ago after being protected by the National Action Party when he was at the head of the previous state administration.
