Tamaulipas governor tests positive for COVID-19

Tamaulipas Governor Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca revealed on Thursday that he has tested positive for COVID-19, the latest indication of the reach of COVID-19 in his state.

Cabeza de Vaca announced his diagnosis via Twitter on Thursday. He said he will continue performing his duties from home as he and the rest of the state tries to slow the virus that continues to affect many.

“I would like to inform you that I have tested positive for #COVID19. From this moment, I will be following the directions of (the Tamaulipas Ministry of Health) and from here I will continue working,” Cabeza de Vaca said in the tweet.

“I have implemented communication measures with my Health, Safety, Economy, and Well-being cabinet to continue working and attending to the priorities of our state. As I reported previously, Tamaulipas is going through a critical moment of infection.”

The Tamaulipas governor’s message comes at a time when the state has seen a rapid increase of COVID-19 cases.
