Tamaulipas will serve as the Guest State of Honor at Mundo Mezcal, the most important agave and mezcal festival in Mexico.
Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, Secretary of Tourism of Tamaulipas, highlighted that this distinction will position the state’s spirits as one of the major discoveries in Mexico’s national distillery scene.
“Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya is firmly committed to supporting local communities by promoting their extraordinary natural wealth and the great diversity of their artisanal products as drivers of economic development, local empowerment, and tourism growth,” the state official stated.
Mundo Mezcal is the largest and most comprehensive agave festival in Mexico, a unique event that brings together the entire production chain: producers, buyers, academics, and cultural promoters in a vibrant gathering featuring tastings, music, gastronomy, tradition, and business opportunities.
The festival offers an unforgettable sensory experience, featuring mole, chocolate, coffee, edible insects, and regional products paired with some of the finest agave spirits. Visitors can also enjoy live music, art, parades, and the rich cultural heritage of Mexico.
With 10,000 square meters of exhibition space, more than 8,000 visitors, and over 400 exhibitors, the second edition of Mundo Mezcal: Festival of Agave, Land, and Flavor will take place from October 16 to 18 at the Campo Marte Gardens in Mexico City.
“Tamaulipas arrives as the Guest State of Honor to showcase the tremendous natural wealth of northeastern Mexico and strongly promote its artisanal spirits. This is a unique opportunity to strengthen its production chain and open national and international market opportunities for its producers,” Hernández Rodríguez explained.
