The Tamaulipas State Public Security Secretariat (SSPT), through its State Cyber Guard, issued a series of recommendations to the public to avoid becoming victims of cybercrime during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The main recommendation from authorities is to purchase tickets and book accommodations only through official websites.
The list of recommendations also includes keeping devices and applications updated, not sharing personal information with strangers, and reporting suspicious websites or profiles to the appropriate authorities.
The Tamaulipas State Public Security Secretariat (SSPT) reminded the public that the State Cyber Guard will be providing guidance and support through the telephone number 834 318 6232, extension 16099.
The Government of Tamaulipas launched the Nine Tourist Routes strategy with the goal of attracting fans and visitors who will come to Mexico for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The State Secretary of Tourism, Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, pointed out that the focus is on proximity to Monterrey, one of the main venues for the tournament: “With this strategy, Tamaulipas is preparing to receive international tourists who, in addition to enjoying soccer in Monterrey, will discover a state full of contrasts and hospitality. Tamaulipas is ready to score a major tourism goal for the 2026 World Cup.”
The Tamaulipas initiative aims to position the state as a complementary destination, with experiences ranging from short stays to more comprehensive tours.
This tourism strategy includes natural, cultural and gastronomic destinations, such as cenotes, ecological reserves, towns with history and themed tours.
