Elements of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, as well as the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime, arrived in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, as part of the operations implemented by the Federal Government to guarantee security along the Tamaulipas border.

The convoy, made up of 20 vehicles, proceeded along Hidalgo Boulevard, one of the city’s main thoroughfares that connects to the highway to Monterrey.

As they passed, the uniformed officers caused a stir among the citizens, who immediately shared the large deployment on social media, something not seen in this border city for some time.

The vehicles arrived at the facilities of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), where the officers disembarked and gathered outside the building. It appeared that they were officers from the National Guard and the Mexican Army.

Although no information has yet been released regarding the total number of personnel who will be deployed to Reynosa starting today, it has been reported that approximately 400 will be conducting operations, patrols, and security inspections throughout the city. These officers include members of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO) and the State Secretariat of Public Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).

It is worth noting that a similar deployment of personnel occurred just days ago in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, following the May 17th attack in which a Federal Police officer was killed and another wounded by armed individuals.

The incident took place at the intersection of Periférico Avenue and 3rd Street, where civilians opened fire on the federal officers. The body of the deceased officer was found lying next to the vehicle, while the wounded officer was transported to the General Hospital, where he was reported to be in serious condition.

The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) announced the arrest of eight people related to the murder of a member of the Federal Protection Service and that during joint operations carried out by federal and state authorities, weapons, magazines, cartridges, vehicles, tactical equipment, around 43,400 kilograms of suspected marijuana and metal devices known as tire spikes were seized.
