Personnel from the State Gender Guard in the municipality of Nuevo Laredo activated the “Safe Route” operation and set up a station at the Alameda a la Mujer Park to enhance community engagement and reduce levels of violence.
The first phase of the operation took place at the Benito Juárez Terminal, where security and surveillance patrols were implemented to prevent and deter crime. These actions benefited passengers utilizing the following routes:
Constitucional,
Naciones Unidas,
Unión del Recuerdo,
Voluntad y Trabajo, and
Los Olivos
Another public space where close engagement with the community was maintained was the “Plaza de la Mujer,” where an information booth was set up to publicize the functions of the Specialized Mobile Unit for Family and Gender-Based Violence Assistance (UMEAV).
At both locations, the 911 and 089 numbers were promoted as the official channels for reporting emergencies and filing anonymous reports.
