During the Tianguis Turístico in Acapulco 2026, Tampico Mayor Mónica Villarreal Anaya reaffirmed her commitment to the municipality’s tourism development by signing three important collaboration agreements. These agreements aim to promote the city as one of the most attractive destinations in the country and expand road and air connectivity with other states.

First, the mayor, accompanied by the State Secretary of Tourism, Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, and the Municipal Director of Tourism, Karime Cámara Chaín, reaffirmed the international tourism promotion agreement with CONEXSTUR, represented by its president, Birgit Grund. This agreement will boost the municipality’s international profile, positioning it as one of the most important tourist destinations in southern Tamaulipas.

This project will seek to highlight Tampico’s rich cultural, gastronomic, tourist, and historical offerings in strategic sectors, strengthening its position in international markets and generating greater opportunities to attract visitors, investment, and economic development for the region.

“Tampico has everything to captivate international tourism; today we are taking a firm step to take our history, our gastronomy, and our identity beyond our borders. We are working to ensure that Tampico is not only visited, but also recommended and remembered,” he stated.

Villarreal Anaya also reached an agreement with the companies ETN Turistar, through its Commercial Director, Erick Ruiz Ruiz, and VivaAerobus, represented by its Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Jesús Horacio González, to expand connectivity to and from other destinations in the country through promotional strategies that attract visitors and tourists to the southern region of Tamaulipas.

“Connectivity is key to tourism development; facilitating the arrival of visitors means generating more opportunities for our people, strengthening the local economy, and opening new avenues for growth in Tampico. That’s why today we are joining forces with strategic partners to improve our connectivity and make us an increasingly accessible, competitive, and attractive destination for those seeking to experience the best of our region,” the mayor emphasized.

Finally, the mayor reiterated that these actions are part of a comprehensive strategy to consolidate Tampico as a competitive destination nationally and internationally, boosting economic growth and strengthening the tourism value chain.
