Tamaulipas welcomed more than 2.2 million visitors during Holy Week, confirming the success of the strategy implemented to provide security and assistance to tourists, stated Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, who called upon public servants to continue working diligently and maintain the current momentum in the state.

“As we resume work and return to our duties, I urge you, within our responsibility as public servants, to continue encouraging and inspiring our people in this momentum our state is experiencing, to consolidate it as a benchmark in our country and to ensure it serves the well-being and social development of all, with justice, peace, and freedom,” he expressed during the civic honors ceremony at the C3 in the state capital.

The governor estimated that, according to preliminary results, tourists not only preferred beach destinations, but also visited Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns) and nature-based tourist centers, such as Gómez Farías and Ocampo, and reiterated that the success of this increase in the number of visitors required a great deal of planning, effort, and work.

In his address to members of the state cabinet, legislators, and employees of the State Center for Trust Control and Evaluation, the governor of Tamaulipas also highlighted some of the initiatives in which, with the support of Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum, Tamaulipas is a national leader, such as energy development, the Housing for Well-being program, the upcoming Gulf North Corridor highway, and the vaccination campaign that has allowed the state to remain the only one without a confirmed case of measles in 2026.

“This is not a matter of luck or chance. It is the result of hard work, planning, organization, and attentiveness to our responsibilities in every area of our jurisdiction,” he stated.

For his part, the Secretary of Public Security, Carlos Arturo Pancardo Escudero, explained that the greatest attention during Holy Week was concentrated in the southern zone due to the high influx of visitors to Miramar Beach and its importance as a tourist destination. Therefore, operational capabilities were strengthened with aerial surveillance, mounted units, and specialized patrols, guaranteeing prevention, security, and assistance to the public, without neglecting the permanent deployment throughout the state.

He emphasized that, since the beginning of the current administration, Governor Américo Villarreal’s commitment to the peace of mind of the people of Tamaulipas has been evident, strengthening the operational capacity of the State Guard and the prison system through an investment of over 567 million pesos allocated to vehicular, technological, and ballistic equipment, as well as maintenance.

“Governor, Tamaulipas is safer, thanks to a leadership that, while maintaining humanism as a governing principle, also ensures the effective enforcement of the law,” he stated.

Accompanying the governor at this ceremony were: Tania Contreras López, President of the Supreme Court of Justice; Humberto Armando Prieto Herrera, President of the Governing Board of the State Congress; Sergio Ojeda, President of the Board of Directors of the Congress; Héctor Villegas González, Secretary General of the Government; Willy Zúñiga Castillo, Executive Secretary of the State Public Security System; Eduardo Govea Orozco, Attorney General of Justice; Adolfo Amparán Hernández, State Coordinator of the National Guard in Tamaulipas; and Gerardo Martínez Andrade, representing the 48th Military Zone.
