Judith Pérez Orozco, a social worker with the State Commission for Victim Assistance in Tamaulipas, acknowledged the support of the Mobile Unit provided by the State Health Department, through the UNEME DEDICAM Victoria clinic, in offering free mammograms to the general public as part of the universal breast cancer screening program.
“The goal is to provide as many free mammograms as possible to the general public, and we started on Monday and will continue until this Friday. We don’t yet know of any other locations the unit will visit, but we will announce them through our social media,” she explained.
Women are a fundamental sector of society and represent the largest number of people who require the services of the State Commission for Victim Assistance, whose offices are located in the state capital.
“We collect their INE (National Electoral Institute) card and CURP (Unique Population Registry Code), and we ask them a short questionnaire. We recommend that they come without deodorant or lotion; the mammogram procedure is completely clean,” said Pérez Orozco.
The Undersecretariat for Legality and Government Services promotes and strengthens these actions that encourage prevention and access to free healthcare services.
“The importance of undergoing these types of screenings is that breast cancer detected early is completely curable,” she concluded.
