The incident occurred on the morning of Friday, May 30, on Avenida del Niño, according to the Tamaulipas Security Spokesperson’s Office. This alerted the population of the border city to drive with caution in the area due to tire punctures left behind.

According to the Tamaulipas Security Spokesperson’s Office, one officer, identified as Carlos Fabian Alvarado Becerra, was wounded with a gunshot wound to the left cheekbone.

The officers were taken to the Matamoros “Alfredo Pumarejo” General Hospital. The situation has not yet been reported, as the police are under the responsibility of the ISSSTE.
