The state of Tamaulipas is included in the plan of the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, for the development of passenger trains contemplated in the 2024-2030 six-year term that begins today.
In the speech given when taking the presidential sash this Tuesday, the national leader assured that this entity in the northeast of Mexico is included in the plan to continue growing in the area of railway infrastructure.
“We want to build twice the kilometers that the president -Andrés Manuel López Obrador- built of passenger trains, from Mexico City to Pachuca, from Mexico City to Nuevo Laredo and from Mexico City to Nogales” said the first president of North America.

Recovery of the passenger train
This railway development scheme also contemplates the recovery of the passenger train to Veracruz.
“The Mayan Train will be extended to Nuevo Progreso Yucatán and in its more than 1,500 kilometers it will also be a freight train” said Sheinbaum, who said that the K Line of the Interoceanic Train that goes from Ciudad Ixtepec to Ciudad Hidalgo on the border of Chiapas with Guatemala will be completed.
She criticized the privatization of the railway system
Before the plenary session of the Congress of the Union, she pointed out that “before they privatized them – the trains – now we recover the passenger trains with pride, because they mean regional development, jobs, tourism and shared prosperity.”
Continuing with the mobility infrastructure, the president indicated that “we will continue with artisanal roads to connect communities with ports, airports and highways that generate development with well-being and that at the same time strengthen the country’s infrastructure and promote development.”
Claudia indicated that “the war against drugs by -Felipe- Calderón will not return,” assuring that her strategy will focus on addressing the causes, intelligence and investigation, strengthening corporations and coordination with municipalities and prosecutors.
The governor of the entity, Américo Villarreal Anaya, considered yesterday that in the six-year term that begins this October 1, the entity will have a more accelerated development, considering that the coordination and support of the new federal government will be fundamental.
He stressed his commitment to advance towards the development of Tamaulipas with the support of the federal government headed by Claudia Sheinbaum, who in her inauguration proposed Nuevo Laredo as part of the scheme for the strengthening of passenger trains.
