Cabeza de Vaca obtains definitive suspension against capture
Francisco Javier García Cabeza de Vaca, former governor of Tamaulipas, obtained a definitive suspension of the arrest warrant against him.
The measure, granted by a federal judge, does not prevent him from being apprehended by the Attorney General’s Office (FRG), since the crimes of which he is accused are considered serious and warrant preventive detention ex officio.
Therefore, the suspension is for the purpose of making him available to the injunction court in the place where he is confined, as far as his personal freedom is concerned, and for the continuation of the criminal process, which is “non-suspendable”.
Cabeza de Vaca is accused of organized crime and operations with resources of illicit origin. He is currently a fugitive, although judicial sources located him in the United States.
