PACHUCA, HIDALGO (October 16, 2020).- This morning President Andrés Manuel López Obrador together with the Governor of Hidalgo Omar Fayad supervised the works of the Felipe Ángeles de Santa Lucía International Airport.
The new Airport will be inaugurated on March 21, 2022, and is located just half an hour away from Pachuca, the capital of the state of Hidalgo.
The works officially began on October 17, 2019, so it’s been one year since the start of the construction.
The works were launched amid controversies and 7 injunctions were filed by groups and organizations in order to stop the project, but none of them proceeded and the airport still under construction.
The International Airport will be named after Felipe Ángeles, a revolutionary general who was born in the state of Hidalgo.
According to the president, the new international airport will be inaugurated on March 21, 2022.
In this scenario, the president and the governor of Hidalgo toured the facilities on Friday, October 16th, and learned about the progress of the construction works.
Due to its location, in the neighboring municipality of Zumpango, State of Mexico, the airport is very close to municipalities in the south of the State of Hidalgo, particularly Pachuca, Villa de Tezontepec, Zapotlán and Tizayuca.
