THE OPENING MAY NOT BE IMMEDIATE WITH SOME COUNTRIES DUE TO SANITARY PROTOCOLS
According to the International Air Transport Association ( IATA ), the Colombian government would allow international connectivity as of September 21 and has nine countries to which it would allow commercial flights, said Andrés Uribe, regional manager of the association in this country. .
At a press conference, Andrés Uribe pointed out that Mexico would be included among the nine countries that the Colombian government would approve for the restart of international commercial flights. The others are: the United States, Ecuador, Brazil, Chile, Turkey, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
He also assured that it is likely that more countries will be added in the near future.
or his part, Peter Cerdá, IATA regional vice president for the Americas, warned that the opening may not be immediate with some countries due to the protocols that exist in various nations.
For example, the European Union still does not allow the entry of people from America, unless they arrive via Uruguay or Canada. “It is a slow process that will require government coordination, but it is good news that the market is opening up in Colombia,” said the head of IATA in the region.
Finally, according to Andrés Uribe, the first three cities that could allow international connectivity in Colombia are Cartagena, Cali, and Medellín. Bogotá would be approved later.
